ALAPPUZHA: An elderly couple in Ambalappuzha have lodged a complaint with the police demanding protection after the compound wall and gate of their residence was demolished, allegedly by DYFI activists, on Tuesday. The complainant, Subhadra, said DYFI activists were forcibly taking money from her in the name of fund collections. However, she refused to give Rs.2,000 a few days back. They alleged that she had encroached upon Government `puramboke' land and demolished the compound wall and gate this morning, she said. Ms. Subhadra stays with her husband, Chandramohana Kaimal, a retired employee of the Mumbai Export Promotion Council. Mr. Kaimal's memory has been unstable for several years now. She has lodged complaints with the CPI (M)'s local area committee as well.
