State students shine in CBSE Class X exam

Whopping 93.58 per cent pass rate recorded surpassing the national 84.44 per cent

BHUBANESWAR: Students from Orissa cleared the CBSE Class X examinations this year, recording a whopping 93.58 per cent pass rate surpassing national's 84.44 per cent.

DAV's march on

Avinash Pati of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, topped the exam by obtaining 98.6 per cent. Prashant A. Jayannavar from DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, and Saswat Padhi of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, of the city secured second and third places respectively.

Altogether, 9,312 students from 137 schools appeared this year's examination. Of them, 8,714 students could clear it. Thirty-seven students - 20 boys and 17 girls - made it to the first top position. Some 880 students who appeared secured 90 per cent of marks.

Students of DAV Public School of Mahanadi Coalfield Limited, Burla too came out with flying colours. Out of 43 students, 42 got first division while one student got second division. Yashwardhan Shahri topped among his schoolmates by securing 93 per cent.
