BANGALORE: Two men, who came on a motorcycle, allegedly threw chilly powder on a woman's face and snatched her bag containing a cheque and Rs. 2,500 in cash in Subramanyapura police station limits on Monday night. The police said the incident occurred around 9.15 p.m. while Tara Ramanath (50), a private company employee, was walking near J.S.S. School at Konanakunte Cross.
Found murdered
A man aged around 40 was found murdered in a playground in High Grounds police station limits Tuesday morning. The police said the unidentified man's body, which bore external injuries, was found in a deep pit dug to install a BSNL tower at the playground in Palace Guttahalli.
Two killed
Siju (25) of Kerala was seriously injured after he lost control over his two-wheeler and rammed an electric pole on Bannerghatta Road on Tuesday. Passers-by rushed him to a hospital where he died, the police said. The accident occurred around 8.30 a.m. between Hulimavu and the Meenakshi Temple. Siju, a condiment store employee, was a resident of Gottigere here.
In another incident, Shivappa (28), a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus driver, was killed after a BMTC bus knocked him down in Adugodi traffic police station limits on Monday.
DVDs seized
The South division police conducted raids on 10 shops in their jurisdiction and seized over 5,000 pirated DVDs and VCDs of English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies, estimated at Rs. 10.45 lakh. Besides, the police have also seized several porn films discs from these shops and arrested 16 persons.
Gang held
The police have arrested a six-member gang that had allegedly kidnapped a doctor and released him after obtaining a ransom of Rs. 20,000 from his wife on May 10. The police have seized a high-end car the accused had used to kidnap Bindusara.
