Andhra Pradesh cuts power supply to State farmers

VELLORE: Farmers from Narayanapuram, Javvadhu Ramasamudram and Venkatarajapuram in Vaniyambadi taluk on the Andhra Pradesh border met District Revenue Officer A. Suganthi here on Monday and submitted a petition asking the State Government to provide power for their pumpsets, following the disconnection of supply by the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electricity Cooperative Society (APRECS).

The APRECS, providing power to farm pumpsets, disconnected the supply recently in the light of the protest by farmers in Vellore district against the Andhra Pradesh' proposal to construct a dam across the Palar in Ganesapuram near Kuppam.
