BIJAPUR: Life was disrupted in Basavanabagewadi town on Wednesday following a bandh observed in protest against the book "Aanudeva Horganavanu" authored by Banjegere Jayaprakash, in which derogatory comments have reportedly been made about the fatherhood of 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara. Basavanabagewadi is the birthplace of Basaveshwara. Schools and colleges, hotels, cinemas and commercial establishments remained closed and vehicle were off the roads. The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation withdrew bus services as a precautionary measure. A large number people took out protest march on the main streets of the town. Later they held a rally in front of Bsaveshwara Gudi complex. Dayanand Swamiji of Vishwa Basava Dharma Mahasabha and leaders of other organisations, who spoke on the occasion, urged the Government to ban the book.
