Plea to disqualify MLA

Staff Correspondent

Belgaum: The Belgaum District Kannada Organisations Action Committee has demanded that the Belgaum Taluk Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee be superseded and MLA Manohar Kinekar be disqualified.

In a memorandum submitted to the Government through the Deputy Commissioner here on Tuesday, committee president Ashok Chandargi alleged that Mr. Kinekar, a senior leader of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi (MES), and his supporters had manhandled the Tahsildar and Returning Officer during elections to the post of president and vice-president of the APMC on Monday.

"The Government should disqualify him and supersede the APMC Board immediately," it said. The Belgaum district unit of Karnataka State Government Employees Association demanded filing of criminal cases against the MES leaders.
