Belgaum: Consumer cooperative societies are left with little option but to improve the quality of their products and services in order to survive cut-throat competition, Minister for Cooperation G.T. Deve Gowda has said. He was speaking after inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Belgaum Consumers Cooperative Wholesale & Stores Ltd. here on Wednesday. Minister for Food & Civil Supplies Govind Karjol, MP Suresh Angadi and MLA Ramesh Kudachi were present Mr. Gowda said that the cooperative sector was under threat because of the changed economic order and invasion of markets by big players and multi-national companies. Quality and cost-effectiveness played were important for surviving in the open market economy. Cooperative societies should improve the quality of their products and services, he said.
