CHENNAI : The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Chennai, a scientific society under the Ministry of Communication and Information, on Tuesday inaugurated a three-day workshop to teach software trainers the various features of Bharat Operating Systems Solutions (BOSS), a Linux-based operating system developed for Indian conditions. The operating system was developed by the National Research Centre for Free and Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) and is currently available in Tamil and Hindi. The workshop has been organised to train the trainers on the salient features of the "Desktop Moksha," the desktop version of the BOSS operating system. The National Research Centre is reportedly working on the server version of the operating system. According to a press release issued by Tushar Abraham Mathew, programme manager, South Asia Node of UNDP's International Open Source Network, the participants in the workshop would be taught on how to use BOSS.
