Concessions for poor patients at MIMS

Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE: The Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), the super specialty hospital in the city, has announced schemes that would bring within the reach of the common people, particularly those living below the poverty line, the benefits of world class diagnostic equipment at concessional rates.

Special concessions have been made for families below poverty line (BPL) for using open MRI, which is the most sophisticated form of MRI scanning.

The patients producing prescription from a doctor and ration card as proof of BPL status would get the concession.

A MIMS spokesman said open MRI examination is a more patiently-friendly diagnostic tool than the conventional MRI scan. Relatives would be allowed to be beside the patient undergoing the procedure.

MIMS also has mammogram used for detecting breast cancer, and 3D and 4D ultra sound scanning machines, a hospital spokesman said on Tuesday.
