Staff Reporter

Forms available with Collectors/ Haj Committee members

  • District Minorities Welfare officer to disburse application forms
  • Names of pilgrims over 75 years not to be included

Hyderabad : Applications for Haj 2007 will be issued from June 1 to 30. The filled-in forms can be submitted along with a demand draft of Rs. 10,700 drawn in favour of Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, by June 30.

The forms can also be downloaded from the website `www.hajcommittee.com'. However, the forms have to be downloaded in triplicate and no photostat would be allowed, said State Haj Committee chairman, Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed.

He told presspersons here on Monday that the application forms would be formally released on June 1 at 4 p.m at the Haj House by Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir. In the districts, the forms can be obtained from the Haj Committee members or the District Collectors. The latter would distribute the forms through the District Minorities Welfare Officer or the Executive Director of Minorities Finance Corporation, said M.A. Quddus, executive officer, State Haj Committee.

    Draw of lots

If the application forms are in excess of the State quota of 4,955, a `qurrah' (draw of lots) would be drawn between July 1 to 15. This time, it was decided not to include the names of pilgrims who are above 75 years. However, one close blood relation would be allowed to accompany them without the draw. Such pilgrims would have to produce an age certificate. The different categories of accommodation have now been classified as A,B,C and D depending on the distance from the Grand Mosque at Mecca Moazzama. Also, this time, a maximum of six persons would be allowed under one cover, Mr. Ahmed said. He said those who couldn't be accommodated last year would also be subjected to `qurrah'.
