NEW DELHI: Cardiologist Naresh Trehan on Wednesday resigned as executive director of Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre Limited (EHIRCL) to join Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. The announcement was made by Apollo Hospitals Group chairman Prathap C. Reddy at a press conference here on Wednesday evening. "My team and I will start operating from Apollo Hospital from June 4," said Dr. Trehan, reading out a two-page statement at the conference. "I have decided to move on and would not like to re-visit the recent events. I now feel it is time to disassociate myself from the Fortis Group in every respect and start a new chapter in my professional life. A significant number of doctors and staff from Escorts Hospital have expressed their desire to come with me."
"A step forward"
Welcoming Dr. Trehan and his team to Apollo Hospital, Dr. Reddy said: "This inclusion in our able cardiac team is a step forward in our endeavour to tackle the challenge of cardiac diseases that is emerging as the largest medical threat to the Indian population."
