Bangalore: The former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who joined the Congress a year ago, will be given a suitable responsibility soon, Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes has said. Mr. Fernandes told presspersons on Wednesday that party president Sonia Gandhi had decided to appoint Mr. Siddaramaiah to a suitable post and it would be done at the earliest. Mr. Siddaramaiah had not been neglected, he said. Mr. Fernandes, a former president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, said there was no misunderstanding or unhappiness among State unit leaders with either Mr. Siddaramaiah or his followers. Admitting that there was a need to accommodate him in a suitable position, he said that the high command would announce it at a "suitable time." The Minister said leaders of the State unit had also discussed the issue with central leaders and convinced them of the need to give the former Deputy Chief Minister a responsibility to strengthen the party in the State. He said that leaders of the AHINDA movement had also met the central leaders and reminded them about the issue.
