Panchayat secretary suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government has suspended Munnar grama panchayat secretary Abdul Rahim from service pending further inquiry into permits given by him for illegal constructions at Munnar.

An inquiry by Joint Director (Administration) of the Panchayat Department had shown that permits had been issued in contravention of the building rules in 32 cases between July 2003 and August 2006, according to an official release.
