CUTTACK: Appearing for the undergraduate examination for the first time after securing university status last year, more than 97 per cent of the students of Ravenshaw Unitary University passed the Plus III arts, science and commerce streams, the results of which were declared on Wednesday. Suryajit Nayak of the city studying physics had the unique distinction of being declared the first `Best Graduate' of the university. He topped the examination by securing 1643 marks out of a possible 2000. He secured 833 in his honours papers. Aiming to do MBA, Nayak, who hails from Bidansi, said: "I am thrilled over the unique feat. But I am not interested to continue my higher studies in physics. I just wanted to be a graduate and then pursue MBA." The university recorded 98.66 pass percentage in science while the percentage in arts was put at 96.98 and over 95 percent students in commerce also passed, registering an overall pass percentage of 97.
Arts stream
In the arts stream, some 63.58 students got first division. In the commerce stream, out of 256 students who appeared for the examination, 245 of them cleared with 157 getting first division.
Extra precautions
Registrar Satyakam Mishra said since we conducted the examination for the first time after the college was converted into a university, we took some extra precautions for the smooth and proper conduct of the examination. We hope the results would further improve in the coming years.
