Two arrested, narcotics seized

CHENNAI : The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB CID) police arrested two men and seized 400 grams of narcotics valued at about Rs 20 lakh.

The police nabbed Hakeem (32), a native of Gujarat settled in Royapuram East Madha Koil Street, when he was allegedly trying to sell the narcotics near Doveton junction.

The accused reportedly told the NIB that he had procured the narcotics from Gujarat and planned to sell it on Tuesday to Jayakumar, who was also arrested.

The police have registered a case and seized a two-wheeler. The two were produced before a city court at Egmore, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The arrest followed a tip-off; a special team acting on the instructions of Additional Director General of Police Narendar Pal Singh arrested the accused.
