Prasanth gets anticipatory bail

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Actor Prasanth, against whom his wife Grahalakshmi had lodged a dowry harassment complaint on May 7, was granted anticipatory bail by a sessions court here on Wednesday.

Principal District and Sessions Judge V. Periyakaruppiah also granted anticipatory bail to the actor's father R. Thyagarajan, mother Shanthi Thayagarajan and sister Preetha Thyagarajan.

Earlier, the Judge held a two-hour counselling for the couple, during which they reportedly expressed their readiness to settle the dispute at the Family Court mediation centre on June 18.

Counselling

Mr. Periyakaruppiah said he was inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the accused in view of the desire expressed at the counselling. The judge directed Mr. Prasanth and others to execute a personal bond for Rs. 5,000 each and furnish two sureties for a like sum each to the satisfaction of the VI Metropolitan Magistrate here.
