Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : A case of kidnap of a one-and-half-year-old girl has been registered by the Koyambedu police on Wednesday.

According to a complaint from Sridhar, a resident of Mullai Street in Semmathamman Nagar I Sector, his friend Velmurugan, a casual worker in the Koyambedu bus stand, came to his house on Tuesday with a 20-year-old girl whose name was given as Kousalya. On Velmurugan's request, the girl was allowed to stay in the house.

Though the details of the girl were not known, she spent the night in Sridhar's house along with his family members.

In the morning, Kousalya wanted to make a phone call and went out. But she did not return. The family members realised that the child Jennifer was also missing, Sridhar said in his complaint and suspected Kousalya to be behind it. Based on the complaint, a case of kidnap has been registered.

A hunt is on to trace the child and nab Kousalya, the police said.
