HYDERABAD: Anirudh Kulkarni of Narayana Junior College, Secunderabad, created a record of being the first-ever student from the State to bag the top rank in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). The results were declared on Wednesday night.

Students of Narayana performed extremely well bagging the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 8th ranks at the all India level. While Rohit Singh got the 3rd rank, Nandish from Himayatnagar branch got 5th rank, T. Praveen Kumar from Dilsukhnagar branch secured 7th rank and Ch. Surya Teja from Vishakapatnam branch got the 8th rank. However, the top rank is of no consequence for the future plans of Anirudh, as he prefers to join the IIT wherein he got 216 rank. He plans to opt for computer science either at IIT Madras or IIT Mumbai. Anirudh also secured 79th rank in EAMCET this year while he scored 97 per cent in Intermediate. His father is associated with Hyderabad cricket while his mother works in the Postal Department. His elder brother is pursuing engineering.

He attributed his success to the structured teaching and constant monitoring of performance by the teachers. D.V. Rao, Director of Narayana institutions.
