20 p.c. HRA for teachers sought

HYDERABAD:
M.V.S. Sarma and K. Nageswar, MLCs, demanded payment of 20 per cent house rent allowance to Government teachers working within eight km of Greater Hyderabad and Greater Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday.
In a representation to Principal Secretary, Finance, they sought orders enabling Collectors of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to release the notification on HRA.
Later, they said in a press release that no modification was made in the G.O. on payment of HRA to teachers, although the formation of Greater Hyderabad/ Visakhapatnam is notified.
The release said the Collectors who have to issue the notification mentioning the schools that fall within the 8 km mark, have expressed their inability.
