Kolkata: Chennai tops the list among the top six metros in overall cleanliness perception ranking, followed by Bangalore and Kolkata, a study released here on Wednesday said.

Mumbai and New Delhi ranked fourth and fifth, the study said.

Among the total of 18 State capitals covered, Chandigarh ranks first, with a total score of 144, followed by Chennai (118) and Kolkata (108).

Mumbai and New Delhi were eighth and ninth.

The study, Lifebuoy Swastha Chetna City Meter, was conducted by AC Nielsen ORG-MARG for Hindustan Lever Ltd.

The major determining factors included greenery and plantations, clean roads, availability of dustbins in public places and efficiency of the garbage disposal system.

Chandigarh topped in all individual parameters, while Raipur, Guwahati, Patna and Bhopal were among the least clean cities. — PTI
