Five killed in road accidents in city

BANGALORE: Five persons, including a two-year-old child, were killed in as many road accidents in the city since Tuesday.

The police said Ramachandra Rao (50), an employee of the Government Printing Press, was killed after a lorry belonging to the KSRTC knocked him down near the City Railway Station around 8.45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Rao, a resident of Cottonpet, was coming out of the KSRTC bus station when the accident occurred. The Chickpet traffic police have registered a case.

Huligamma (2), daughter of a construction worker, was killed on the spot after a car hit her while she was playing on Dinnur Main Road around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The R.T. Nagar traffic police have registered a case and seized the car.

Khaja Hussain (25), a pedestrian, was killed after a motorcycle hit him near Kodihalli check post in Airport traffic police station limits around 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anasuya (60), a pedestrian and a resident of Padmanabhanagar, was killed on the spot after a van knocked her down near Vidyapeeta Circle in Banashankari traffic police station limits around 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Prashanth Kumar (24) was killed after a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus rammed his motorcycle near Garudacharpalya bus stop at K.R. Puram traffic police station limits around 8.15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The police have seized the bus and taken its driver into custody.
