BHEL executives threaten stir

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Federation of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) Executives' Associations has threatened to launch an agitation if a new comprehensive performance-related payment scheme was not implemented immediately as per the recommendation of the Justice Mohan Committee.

In a press release on Wednesday, federation president K.S.N. Raju and general secretary H.S. Jodhka alleged that the BHEL was yet to implement the Justice Mohan committee's recommendations on the performance-related payments made in 2000 for the executives of the central PSUs. The recommendations were supposed to have been implemented with retrospective effect from 1997. Most of the other PSUs were in different stages of implementation of these recommendations.

At present, the performance incentives drawn by executives in NTPC, ONGC, HAL and BEL were three to five times higher than that drawn by their counterparts in BHEL, they claimed.

The BHEL has about 10,000 executives.

In the first phase of struggle, the Federation would take up one-day mass casual leave protest.
