Campaign against smoking

KOCHI: Atma, a forum involved in anti-smoking campaign, will organise various programmes on the occasion of `World Anti-Tobacco Day' on May 31. An exhibition of paintings by leading artistes will be held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. Autorickshaw drivers will participate in sessions explaining the ill-effects of smoking. Students of Amrita Vidyalaya and health care campus will attend a rally highlighting various anti-smoking messages. — Staff Reporter

BSNL officers' protest

KOCHI: All-India BSNL Executives' Association organised a protest in front of the office of the Principal General Manager, Telecom, BSNL Bhavan, here on Wednesday. A press release said the protest was part of the nation-wide agitation being organised by the association demanding implementation of promotion policy and payment of pension without imposing any additional conditions. The association also urged the authorities to implement a transparent transfer policy.

Passports issued

KOCHI: The Regional Passport Office has processed and issued passports for applications received till February 12 after completing the process of police verification. Passports have been despatched in the week ending May 25, Regional Passport Officer said in a release here Wednesday.
