dated June 1, 1957: UK's trade with China

Britain has decided to relax controls on her trade with China, Mr. Selwyn Lloyd, Foreign Secretary, announced in the House of Commons on May 30. It will now be placed on the same basis as British trade with Russia and Eastern European countries. Britain's decision follows prolonged disagreement in the China trade advisory group. The group consists of the US and the other Atlantic countries except Iceland, with the addition of Japan.
