Corrections and Clarifications

A sentence in "7 gunned down in Nagaland, Manipur" (May 30, 2007) was: "On Monday, three FGN and two NSCN(I-M) insurgents were killed in an exchange of fire at Khezhakeno village, about 15 km from Phek town." A reader points out that it should have been Khutsokhono, which is about 15 km from Phek town. Khezhakeno is about 85 km from Phek.

The caption of a standalone photograph "At a standstill" (May 29, 2007, page 1) was: "Welcome Break: Rickshaw pullers in Guwahati take the day off on Monday during the bandh called by city residents and traders in protest against the series of bomb attacks by militants on innocent civilians." As the picture clearly shows the rickshaws to have pedals and a chain system, the men should be cycle rickshaw drivers and not pullers.

In a report "[Spanish coach] Gabriel Urpi to coach Sania [Mirza]" ("Sport", May 24, 2007), it was stated that Sania has undergone orthoscopy (which is examination of the eye with an orthoscope). It should have been arthroscopy, which is a surgical procedure in which a small fibreoptic telescope (arthroscope) is inserted into a joint. The most common types of arthroscopic surgery include removal or repair of a torn meniscus (cartilage), ligament reconstruction, removal of loose debris, and trimming damaged cartilage.

A sentence in a golf report "Gaurav Ghei tied sixth" ("Sport", May 25, 2007) was: "Ghei, who won the Pine Valley Beijing Open last month and came within one shot of a place in play-off at [the] Macau Open last week, was four shots behind Korean Bae Sang Moon, whose eight-under 64 gave him a one-shot lead." It should have been three strokes. (The report was on the SK Telecom Open golf championship at Seoul.)
