Fine for smoking in VUDA Park

VISAKHAPATNAM: Smoking in the VUDA Park will attract a fine of Rs.50. Vice-Chairman of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) G. Venkatram Reddy instructed the VUDA Park staff to implement the order immediately during a programme held in the park on the occasion of the World Anti-Tobacco Day on Thursday in association with Team 4.

VUDA would ban smoking in the tourist spots and other areas developed by it and also take up awareness programmes for visitors against tobacco use. Thursday's programme was in tune with the awareness drive, he said.

Team 4 representative K. Satish explained about the bad affects of tobacco products. Psychiatrist Phani Prashanti, gynaecologist M. Kasturi, J. Nagireddy of Team 4VUDA DFO G.P. Prabhakara Rao, pupils of Pollock's School and J.K. Talent School and others participated.
