LONDON: British Government refused to be drawn into the allegations made by Andrei Lugovoi saying it was a "criminal'' matter and not an "issue of intelligence''. A Foreign office spokesman told The Hindu that the Government was still awaiting a formal response from Moscow to its request for the extradition of Mr. Lugovoi to stand trial in the U.K. for the murder of Litvinenko. "Our position is clear. Our request for the extradition of Mr. Lugovoi to face trial in the U.K. has been handed over. We await the Russian response. This is a criminal matter and not an issue of intelligence''.
