Transfer of power will take place: Eshwarappa

Special Correspondent

`Chief Minister has said there was no question of backtracking on agreement'

SHIMOGA: Minister for Water Resources K.S. Eshwarappa appealed to Minister for Labour Iqbal Ansari on Thursday to desist from making controversial statements with regard to transfer of power from Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa after completion of the former's 20-month term.

Addressing a press conference here, he said Mr. Kumaraswamy and senior leaders of the Janata Dal (Secular) such as M.P. Prakash had been saying that there was no question of going back on the agreement to hand over power to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He said he failed to understand why Mr. Ansari should continue to make such controversial statements.

Mr. Eshwarappa said the BJP had better chances of winning than the Janata Dal (S) and the Congress in the by election to the Ullal Assembly constituency.
