Two students commit suicide in Bhanjanagar

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Two students committed suicide in Ganjam district after declaration of results of secondary school board examination and higher secondary board results for science and commerce.

Both the suicides were reported from Bhanjanagar.

B. Bidya could not pass the examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. Her parents reportedly reprimanded her.

That night, she allegedly consumed some poison. On Wednesday morning, she was rushed to hospital, but doctors could not save her.

Dibyansu Nayak, a student of KSUB College, passed the Plus II science examination in the third division.

His younger brother, however, passed the examination in the first division.

Reportedly upset over his performance, he jumped into a reservoir near Bhanjanagar. His body was fished out on Thursday evening.
