Ahobila Math school students top OSLC stream

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Students of Sri Ahobila Math Oriental Higher Secondary School seem as invincible in the OSLC stream, as the Aussies in cricket and Roger Federer at Wimbledon. Keeping up the tradition, three students from this school in West Mambalam bagged the first three State ranks in the Class X OSLC examinations held this March.

S.Sudha and R.Suganya, who were ranked first and third in State respectively, have several things in common. Sudha scored 565 out of 600 while Suganya scored 562.

The teenagers did not deny themselves their daily quota of television-watching till their examinations began. "I like watching TV. When I am done with the day's lessons, I would hum along with a song playing on TV or simply dance to my favourite number," says Sudha.

And for Suganya, she had to catch a glimpse of her favourite animals on Animal Planet, before going to bed. "I cannot study for more than two hours a day. In that time, I would concentrate and give my best," she says. Sudha and Suganya did not go for tuition classes and both joined this school when they were in class six. Sudha scored 90 in English, 99 in Mathematics, 97 in Science, 185 in Sanskrit (I&II) and 94 in Tamil. Suganya scored 91 in English, 93 in Mathematics, 98 in Science, 189 in Sanskrit (I &II) and 91 in Tamil.

Sudha's father M.K.Sridharan works as commercial assistant in the TNEB and her mother S.Shanthi is a homemaker. Suganya's parents G.Ramaswamy and Revathy are State Government employees. Second rank holder D. Harini, who scored a total of 563, was out of town.

Secretary, N.V. Vasudevachariar, attributes their consistency to his team of teachers. "I have a very good team of teachers who are devoted. And that pays off."
