Woman held for killing mother-in-law

CHENNAI : A middle-aged woman allegedly attacked her 70-year-old mother-in-law with a kitchen knife and the latter died on the spot on Thursday.

Police said Lakshmi (32), wife of Narayanan, was a resident of V. M. Street, Triplicane. There was a wordy altercation between Lakshmi and her mother-in-law Shanta Bai (70) over a domestic issue. Following this, she allegedly killed her mother-in-law with a knife at their residence.

The Triplicane police arrested the accused.

A case of murder has been registered and the body sent for post-mortem to the Government Royapettah Hospital. Further investigation is on.
