Three killed near Kancheepuram as goods carriers collide

Accident on Chennai-Bangalore National Highway near Kancheepuram

KANCHEEPURAM
: Three persons were killed in an accident involving two goods carriers near Kancheepuram on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway on Thursday.
According to police, the accident took place at around 1.30 a.m. in the Whitegate area when a vegetable-laden mini-lorry, bound for Koyambedu from Pungalur in Andhara Pradesh, collided with a brick-laden goods carrier proceeding towards Chennai from Ranipet. Cleaner of the mini-lorry Ramesh (26), belonging to Bommasamudhram near Chitoor, loadman Prakash (25) of Benthapallee village in Karnataka and vegetable trader Srinivasalu (26) of Chitoor died on the spot. Van driver Thirumala Reddy of Pulipalam was injured.
