Mixed day for EB

New Delhi: East Bengal had a mixed first day at the South-East Asia Regional finals of the under-15 Manchester United Premier Cup, winning one and losing one of its matches in Singapore.

The Kolkata team got off to a disappointing start going down 0-2 to Singapore Sports School, but came back strongly to beat Hong Kong U-15 by a solitary goal.

Ajoy Roy scored the winner for East Bengal in the second half.

Earlier, in the match against the local team, both sides were tied goalless at the halftime before the Singapore school struck twice in the second half.

Assumption College leads the group standings with six points followed by Singapore Sports School, East Bengal U-15 and Hong Kong U-15 with three points each. DKMJI, Jakarta is yet to open its account. — PTI
