Puducherry: The Department of Labour has organised a 15-day "Vocation and Career Guidance Exhibition" for the sixth year in succession on Gandhi Thidal near the Beach Road here. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who inaugurated the fair on Thursday, said that students should make use of the exhibition and acquaint themselves with the various courses available in professional and other institutions in Puducherry and Tamil nadu. He said that the pass percentage in Plus Two and SSLC examinations had been praiseworthy. Health and Labour Minister E. Valsaraj said that the exhibitions held in the past had proved to be helpful. He said around 140 professional colleges, Industrial Training Institutes and polytechnic colleges from Puducherry and other States had participated in the fairs in the past. Now, around 35 institutions have put up their stalls. Mr. Valsaraj said that more than 500 students had spot admission to various courses in the exhibitions held in last year. Labour Commissioner S.D. Sundaresan said that more than 20,000 students were expected to visit the exhibition. Employment Officer B. Zareena Begam proposed a vote of thanks.
