Letters to the Editor
This refers to the NDTV sting operation showing the defence lawyer in the BMW hit-and-run case in which Sanjeev Nanda is accused of running over six persons allegedly discussing with an eyewitness ways to bail out his client. The alleged deal, if true, is a betrayal of the trust the people repose in lawyers. If the accusations against the lawyer are proved, all those involved should be thrown out of the profession and tried for breach of trust.
J.V. Reddy,
* * * The legal profession has always been considered noble. It was always thought members of the bar uphold the law and help the judiciary to maintain the majesty of law. The alleged wrongdoing by an eminent lawyer is shocking. If true, the misguided attempt to help a member of a wealthy and influential family is highly inappropriate and deserves the severest condemnation.
K. Venkataraman,
* * * This is an extraordinary case that requires immediate action in the form of suspensions and time bound enquiries with definite results. On the other hand, if the tape is found to be a fabricated document all the journalists involved in the sting operation should forever be barred from pursuing a career in journalism.
Thalmann Pradeep Pereira,
