Kochi: Lawyers will boycott sittings of Lok Adalats and all functions attended by judges and judicial officers from June 5 in protest against the failure of the authorities to take stern action against the magistrate who ordered the arrest and detention of a lawyer. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Thomas Abraham and P. Santhosh Kumar, convener and secretary respectively of the Lawyers Action Committee on Chittur Incident, said that the decision was taken at a meeting of the committee. The inquiry report submitted by Sessions Judge Thomas P. Joseph was biased. The meeting demanded that the report be rejected. The meeting was dissatisfied with the appointment of a committee consisting of three High Court judges to look into the report.
