Mayawati's advice to BJP

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday suggested that the Bharatiya Janata Party adopt the middle path to solve the problem of the Gujjar community in Rajasthan.

At a press conference, she expressed concern over the protests by the Gujjars on the reservation issue, and wanted the tangle resolved at the earliest.

Ms. Mayawati appealed to the members of the Gujjar and Meena communities to desist from violence and maintain peace.

Organisations representing the Gujjars staged demonstrations in Ghaziabad, Mathura and Meerut on Friday.
