Vasundhara must accept responsibility: Congress

Special Correspondent

Say that she failed to take preventive action

  • Situation in State "spiralling completely out of control"
  • Call for normality to be restored immediately

NEW DELHI: Charging the Vasundhara Raje Government with having "completely failed" in handling the law and order situation in Rajasthan, the Congress on Friday said the Chief Minister should accept "moral responsibility for this culpable inaction."

"There was sufficient warning that such clashes were likely to occur both in the media and elsewhere but the Chief Minister chose to remain abroad for over 20 days and failed to take a single step to prevent these incidents," party spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said.

She said the situation in Rajasthan was "spiralling completely out of control" and had turned serious with grave threat to the lives of the citizens.

While appealing to the people to maintain peace, the party said top priority should be accorded to restoring normality.

It charged the BJP high command with having failed to direct the Chief Minister to restore peace.
