Revanth stars with century

HYDERABAD: A century by Revanth Sai (143, 12x4, 3x6) helped Sarojini Cricket Academy score a comfortable, 154-run win over Ektha Cricket Academy in the final of the open category of the all-India Pepsi Cup sub-juniors cricket tournament in Bangalore on Friday, according to information received here.

The scores:

Sarojini CA 290 for three (Revanth Sai 143, Hariharan 73 not out, Nithil 37) bt Ektha CA 136 (Benjamin 30, Sunny 31, Sridhar three for 20, Narsing three for 22, Vijay Krishna three for 24).

Morshed CC advances

Morshed Coaching Centre scored a 3-0 win over Lal Bahadur Stadium in the pre-quarterfinals of the Gotla Cup football tournament, organised by Gotla Football Academy, at the Gymkhana Grounds here.

A self-goal by stopper-back Ramesh, who in his attempt to clear the ball deflected it into the goal, helped Morshed take the lead in the second minute.

In the second session, Abu Baquar struck in the 38th to make it 2-0 and within 10 minutes Abdul scored the third to complete the tally.

In another match, Quli Qutub Shah Centre scored a 2-0 win against Gymkhana `B' with Rizwan striking in the 20th minute of the first-half.

In the second session, Waseem was on target to seal the Gymkhana fate.

Gowtham triumphs

T. Gowtham won the title with 6.5 points in the AP State Open chess championship held at Narsaraopeta (Guntur) on Friday.

Double for St. Patrick's

St. Patrick's HS scored a `double' winning the under-11 and under-13 titles in the fourth Paradise Persis Gold Cup sub-juniors cricket tournament here.

The scores: Finals: Under-11: St. Joseph's HS 116 for seven (Rohit 34, Raza three for 16, Ravi three for 23) lost to St. Patrick's HS 117 for two (Raza 54, Chandrasekahr 34).

Under-13: St. John's CF 134 for five (Chaitanya 56, Shubham 35, Santosh three for 18) lost to St. Patrick's HS 135 for six (Pavan 59, Kushal 32).

Zainab third

Hyderabad's Zainab Ali Sajjad got the third place when she defeated fifth seeded Vaidehi Bhagwat 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 in the play off between the losing semifinalists of the Asian junior ranking tennis tournament in Pune on Friday.

Kumar scores winner

Kumar's 26th minute goal enabled President's XI beat Sri Ramakrishna FC 1-0 in a first round match of the Sri Saripalli Rama Rao memorial football tournament organised by the SKMLSC at the AU ground, at Visakhapatnam, on Friday.

Other result: Coastal Andhra Tigers bt Bhupathi Raju Memorial FC 4-0 (Appala Raj (2), Venu Raju, Sidhu).
