Rupee climbs further

MUMBAI: Buoyed by sustained capital inflows, the rupee continued to forge ahead on Friday and closed at 40.52/53 against the U.S. currency.

According to forex dealers, traders were expecting further hike in cash reserve ratio by the Reserve Bank of India, which also boosted the rupee sentiment. The rupee opened strong at 40.53/54 a dollar and moved in a narrow range of 40.51 and 40.58 before finishing at 40.52/53 a dollar against Thursday's close of 40.60/61 a dollar. — PTI
