GUNTUR: Three girls, who were lured into prostitution, were rescued by the Guntur police on Friday. The police also took four persons into custody and registered cases against them. According to Additional Superintendent of Police K. Diwakar, the girls were rescued from the clutches of Tadisetti Dhanalakshmi and Pendyala Satyanarayana, who had been allegedly in the flesh trade for the last 10 years. The trafficking racket came to light after the arrest of Dhanalakshmi on Thursday, he said. Based on the information provided by the arrested, the police took four more persons into custody, charged with trafficking of innocent girls. The arrested were -- Chintaluri Krishna, Madadapu Kumari, and Thota Chandramma. The police were on the lookout for the fifth accused, Ch. Varalakshmi, who was staying in Bangalore. All the arrested were produced before the Special Mobile Judicial First Class Magistrate and remanded to 15 days of judicial custody. The raids were conducted by Inspector of Police, West Circle, M. Nageswara Rao and Nagarampalem Sub-Inspector of Police R. Dharmendra Babu. Superintendent of Police B. Shivadhara Reddy announced cash awards to the police personnel, who had taken part in the raids. The cheques were given by the ASP. The district police launched raids on lodges in the town following complaints of illegal activities in them.
