Sambani Chandrasekhar
HYDERABAD: Even 36 days after being sworn in as Minister, Sambani Chandrasekhar has not been provided with an office in the Secretariat. He holds the Health & Family Welfare portfolio. He is the only Minister now without an office for himself. All other Ministers who were inducted into the Cabinet recently, have occupied their chambers on different days during the last five weeks, each on a particular `muhurtham' (auspicious time). With accommodation yet to be provided, Mr. Chandrasekhar is functioning from a Government guesthouse in the city or from his native place, Khammam. Soon after the Cabinet expansion, the new Ministers virtually scrambled for accommodation in the posh `D' block, a majestic edifice that has centralised air-conditioning. Only five of them could make it there. Mr. Chandrasekhar repeatedly sought an office chamber in the `D' block but he was reminded by the General Administration Department that the house was full. Finally, he has been allotted a chamber on the ground floor of the `L' block which is being remodelled by a retinue of masons, carpenters and electricians. A spokesman of the Roads & Buildings Department said the chamber would be ready by Sunday as desired by the Minister. The Minister wants to perform puja and formally occupy the seat that day. Providing accommodation to Ministers has become a difficult task for the GAD. Nowadays, Ministers requires large office space as they have to accommodate at least five personal staffers each with workstation equipped with computers.
