THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy has requested the Union Government to help the Keralites stranded without passports and job documents in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to return to the State. Mr. Chandy made this request in fax messages sent to Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahmed on Friday. Mr. Chandy said nearly 2,000 people who had gone to Saudi Arabia in search of jobs had been stranded in Jeddah without papers for months. They had sent him a letter seeking his help for their return home.
