This Kalam look-alike wants to meet President

VIJAYAWADA: From Mynapalli Radha Charan, he became Maharshi MRC. But now, he is popular as Vijayawada's Abdul Kalam. Sporting a Kalam hairstyle, he is happy with his newfound identity. "My grandparents used to call me Maharshi. Recently a siddhant (astrologer) told me that the name would bring luck to me," he says, explaining the logic behind the change of name.

A native of Jagannadhapuram village near Kakinada, Maharshi worked as a clerk-cum-cashier in the Indian Bank, Tenali. He liked combing his hair with a middle parting even when he was a bank employee. But his wife and children did not like it and so, he gave it up.

"I incurred huge financial losses. My siddhant then told me that my life was going astray and I needed to bring it to the centre by going back to the middle parting of hair," he says. "My popularity as a look-alike of Dr. Kalam is growing, now I have begun to forget my real name," he chuckles. "The President is such a great man and when people draw comparisons, l feel happy," he says.

Maharshi plans to shift to Hyderabad to get a suitable role in the film industry . "My wish is to meet the President one day," he says. Well, his time is ticking, for Dr. Kalam has only less than a month to go to complete his term in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
