Vapi (Gujarat): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has termed UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as an "anti-Gujarat" person and asked her to supply gas for a power project in the State "at least" to fulfil her husband's wish. "Today Soniaben will be visiting Gujarat. I must remind her that she came to India because of (former prime minister) Rajiv Gandhi and whatever she is today is because of him," Mr. Modi said at a public gathering He was speaking at the inauguration of a section of the gas-grid project. "Rajiv had years ago as Prime Minister promised in Parliament that the Central Government will supply gas to Gujarat's 615 MW Pipavav project on the Saurashtra coast," he said. "Years have passed since his death and many Chief Ministers before me have also gone to Delhi but nothing has happened," he said. Mr. Modi alleged the gas meant for the project was not being allocated to Gujarat due to "political reasons". "Even if you do not do anything for Gujarat, at least fulfil Rajiv's wish."
He said there have been many political hurdles in Gujarat's progress and that the Centre had at one stage asked the State to buy the gas at market rate. The government had filed tenders and quoted the highest price, but
