Special Correspondent

Daily progress reports to be sent to the Chief Engineer

HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner C.V.S.K. Sarma has directed his engineering staff to speed up desilting work of the storm water drains in the next few days.

Dr. Sarma enquired about precautionary steps being taken to prevent low lying areas from inundation and said the works have to be completed within a week's time with daily progress reports sent to the Chief Engineer.

The South Zone Additional Commissioner explained to him about the problems associated with spill over of `Gurram Cheruvu' during monsoon and sought necessary sanction of works to halt flooding in Hafeez Baba Nagar and Barkas.

The engineering wing has been asked to submit the proposals for the works. GHMC officials also visited Bilalnagar, Hasannagar, Necklace Road, Nawab Saheb Kunta Bund Road, Guntalshah Dargha and Panchmohalla where ongoing drain works were inspected.

The Commissioner visited Sardar Mahal office and discussed the modalities of reorganising the space available to accommodate the Zonal Commissioner Office. The erstwhile circle one office is to be shifted to the Gaddiannaram municipal office.
