Gas leakage leads to explosion

HYDERABAD: An explosion following leakage of liquefied petroleum gas caused extensive damage to a house in Jawaharnagar of Reinbazar on Friday. Fortunately, none of the nine inmates of the house was injured in the incident.

House owner Mohd. Ghouse's wife Nasreen Fatima went into the kitchen around 12.15 p.m. to prepare food.

The gas that filled the kitchen following leakage in the pipe connected to the cylinder caught fire when she lighted a matchstick.

The scared housewife came rushed out of the house alerting other family members.

By the time they came out, an explosion occurred in the kitchen.

Electronic equipment, clothes and utensils got burnt and the building also got damaged, the police said.
