22 held for drunk driving

KOCHI: The traffic police booked 22 drivers of luxury cars on charges of drunk driving during a one-and-a-half hour drive on Thursday night. The checking was done at Valanjambalam area between 9.30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

An official release said that most of the offenders were returning from high-end hotels after attending send-off parties for retiring Government officials. The police also charged cases against passengers in these cars for abetting the crime. Surprise checks will continue in various parts of the city during these days, the release.
