Woman, son killed

NEW DELHI: A young woman and her 18-month-old son were gunned down by some unidentified men outside her parents' house at Khajoori Khas here on Friday. Though the motive behind the killings is not clear, the police suspect involvement of someone known to the woman. Twenty-year-old Savita and her son Abhishekh were lying on a cot outside her parents' Ambe Colony house around 6-30 p.m. when some masked men arrived and shot at them from close range. The assailants then fled in a car.

Boy crushed to death

NEW DELHI: A two-year-old boy was crushed to death by a car at Sangam Vihar here on Friday. The car driver has been arrested.

According to the police, the driver was reversing the car when it ran over Vishal who was relieving himself outside his house around 8-30 a.m. The driver, Mahinder, has been arrested and a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving registered at the Sangam Vihar police station.

Headless body found

NEW DELHI: An unidentified headless body stuffed in a sack was found near a railway track at Punjabi Bagh here on Thursday.

According to the police, some railway employees who were passing by on Thursday night noticed the blood-soaked sack lying in the bushes. They rang up the Police Control Room around 11 p.m. The police found a body inside the sack with its head, legs and hands severed.

"The body has been chopped into several pieces making it difficult to establish the identity of the deceased," said a police officer.

Drug seized

NEW DELHI: Two alleged drug peddlers have been arrested with 44 kg of ganja at Shalimar Bagh here.

Accused Abdul Wahad and Mohammad Anis were travelling in an auto-rickshaw with the consignment when they were intercepted and arrested on Thursday. During interrogation, Abdul purportedly disclosed that he and his brothers Lallan, Achhan and Muggan used to procure ganja from Assam, Bihar and Nepal and supplied the stuff to their clients. A hunt has been launched for the suppliers of ganja.

Chain-snatcher held

NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly involved in cases of chain snatching has been arrested at Model Town here.

Mahender was arrested on Wednesday when the police allegedly found a knife in his possession. During interrogation, he purportedly confessed to his involvement in cases of chain snatching.

In another case, the police arrested Girdhari allegedly involved in two cases of chain snatching.
