EXPANDING REACH: Anirudh Bhuwalka (left), Managing Director and CEO, Asia MotorWorks, with R. C. Mangal, Senior Vice-President, Marketing, at the launch of the `Global Truck' series in New Delhi on Saturday.
NEW DELHI: Asia MotorWorks (AMW), based in Gujarat, on Saturday launched its 25-49 tonne capacity trucks in North India priced in the range of Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 28 lakh. It has set a turnover target of Rs. 500 crore. The company, which manufactures commercial vehicles, also plans to set up a dealership and spare part shop in Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region) area to cater to the customers in Northern India. On the occasion of the launch of their new trucks, AMW Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anirudh Bhuwalka, told reporters here that the company had been selling products across India but had formally launched the products in the NCR only now. North and West were the biggest markets for the company. In the last fiscal, that happened to be the first year of its operations, the company sold 1,000 units and would be targeting to sell 5,000 vehicles this year, he said. He said the company would increase its dealership base to 40 from 26 and had also appointed 450 sub-dealers for sales, after sales service and spares. The company has also tied up with Cummins India for spares. The company's sole manufacturing facility in Bhuj, Gujarat, has a capacity to turn out 10,000 trucks annually. The plant is now utilising less than half of its installed capacity at 200 trucks a month. It will be increased to 500 units a month in the current fiscal. Mr. Bhuwalka said the company would like to consolidate its position in the domestic market before turning to exercise its option to start manufacturing buses or enter the export market for which service and spare parts support base was vital.
